Dawn Patrol Handicap Reset and Changes to the Wednesday White Tee Team events
The Dawn Patrol shots lost for winnings and money tracking were reset on 1st April. The next reset will be 1st October.
Changes to the Wednesday White Tee Team events
- Team events will now be subject to the Dawn Patrol adjustments as per the Individual games. Winner (all players) -1 and second place (all players) -0.5
- Your White tee handicaps for Team events will remain at 100%, but will now be capped at 33. And as per point 1 above, will be subject to your Dawn Patrol adjustments.
- All Individual and Team winnings will be accumulative and will count towards the £30/£60/£90 thresholds for additional shot adjustments.
For convenience, on the Handicap page there are now two columns showing playing handicaps, one for Yellows 95% (individual) and one for Whites 100% (team). These columns show your Playing Handicap and include any Dawn Patrol adjustments.
- The darker yellow and darker blue show players that have had their handicaps capped.
- The pink highlights show when your handicap has been adjusted by 1 or more shots.
Don’t forget:
- Your Dawn Patrol Handicap is now dynamically linked to your WHS Handicap Index throughout the playing season.
- Preferred lies (pick and place on the fairway) will follow the main club rules.
- The use of Spurk mats (or equivalent) will also follow main club rules. If you are submitting a card for handicap purposes, mats can’t be used.
Slow Play
Just a reminder for those who may have missed Martin’s message last Wednesday.
The Dawn Patrol are often accused of slow play, and unfortunately, there are times when this is justified. This needs to improve.
If your group has lost contact with the group in front and you are holding up players behind, you must let them through without delay. This is basic course etiquette, not optional.
Please be aware of your pace of play at all times and act accordingly – Many Thanks.
Winter Race to Devizer
Congratulations to Steve Haresnape, who won the Race to Devizer with an impressive total of £110.50. This sum was cleverly divided into £75.50 for team winnings and £35.00 for individual winnings, effectively avoiding the penalty start imposed for exceeding the £100 or £75 individual thresholds.
Please check your Dawn Patrol Playing Handicap on the Dawn Patrol Website.
Remember you can access the Race to Devizes history by going to the History page from the main menu

Wednesday 1st April 2026
The Dawn Patrol team event saw an impressive 30 players showing up ready to compete and enjoy the day. The format was the ever-challenging yellow ball, with two scores from three counting on each hole and the yellow ball score counting double. This kept everyone on their toes and made teamwork more important than ever. Not sure of the final count, but a number of yellow balls were lost!!
30 players with a pot of £58. Again someone didn’t put their £2 in! If it was you please step forward.
Winning with a score of 118 – Vaughan Bristow, Kevin Wilford and Mick North (£13 and -1 each)
2nd Place Stuart Clarke, Gordon Hiscock and Shaun Wyatt with a score of 117 (£6 and -0.5 each)

Congratulations to the winners and those in second place.
