Dawn Patrol Away Day at Orchardleigh
9th September 2026 @ 10.34 (This is Wednesday week!)
Late Breaking News – Bank Holiday Monday 31st Augusts
The Handicaps and Competitions Committee have snuck in a Pro‑Shop Club Stableford — register in the pro shop and choose your tee. Entry is £5, including the twos club, with divisional prizes available. We expect a number will take part, but if sufficient players choose not to enter, a Dawn Patrol roll‑up will still go ahead.
Embedded Tables on the Dawn Patrol Website
Microsoft have tightened OneDrive security, which unfortunately broke all the embedded live tables — Handicaps, Race to Divizer, Results and the soon‑to‑launch Eclectic. As a result, I’ve moved the master spreadsheet to Google, where the tables now display and behave much better. If you experience any issues, please let me know. Rod.
The Winter Eclectic 2026
The Dawn Patrol Eclectic Competition will run from Monday 5th of October to Friday 11th of December. Kevin has posted the sign-up sheet on the Dawn Patrol Notice Board; please add your name and pay Alex, who will be collecting the £5 entry fee in cash. Payment is required before the 5th of October.
As per last year the requirement is to submit a maximum of 6 cards which can be submitted on any Dawn Patrol day Monday, Wednesday or Friday. However the Team format selection on a Wednesday will take priority which may preclude the submission of an eclectic card (e.g. Texas Scramble)
A player must declare on the first tee, before a ball is struck, that the round is for an Eclectic submission. The card must show:
- Competition = Eclectic (It should show which round you are playing e.g. 3 of 6)
- The date played
- The player’s full name
- The card must be signed by both the Marker and the Player
In the interest of speeding-up play if you have a N/R on a hole mark it as N/R and move on. There is no need to complete a hole.
Play is from the Yellow tees, and only the gross score for each hole should be recorded on the score card. The total score should be summed (counting N/R as Nil). Upon completion of the round, submit the score cards.
As the eclectic is a stroke competition, under no circumstances should any putt be conceded. You must putt out.
The onus is on each player to remember the holes they still need a good score on. However, I will be publish running scores.
Handicap allowance: Your Handicap Index as at 5th of October, will be used to calculate your Eclectic Handicap (EH). Your EH will be calculated using 70% of your Course Handicap**. The EH will be used at the end of all 6 rounds and will be subtracted from your Gross Eclectic round.
**Remember the method of calculating a Playing Handicap takes the un-rounded Course Handicap, applies the percentage and then rounds the resultant Playing Handicap. I mention this as you can’t just take a percentage of the Course Handicap as shown on the charts at hole 1. I will do the calculations.
Here are the Results for the Week
Monday 24th August 2026
A good turnout of twenty players today participating for a kitty of £40
Overall, Tony Rees (38) £20 (-2 Tony as you crossed the £30 threshold)
Front 9, Bob Pippett (21) £10
Back 9, Martin Coles (19) £10
Wednesday 26th August 2026
We had 16 players today, with numbers down because some members were on holiday or playing at other courses. The sun was out, although a brief, heavy shower arrived just as the first group was about to tee off, sending everyone rushing for their wet-weather gear. By the time we were all kitted up, the sun had returned, making it difficult to see the opening drives on the 1st.
A Texas scramble today and winning with a score of 63.9 Alex Annal, Tim Pearce and Steve Haresnape. (Tim and Steve you both have -2 as you have gone through the £30 threshold)
Second, just behind Paul, Andy and Tom with 65.9
Just a reminder of the rules.
3 balls – 5 drives each and 10% of the combined Playing handicap is deducted from your overall gross score.
4 balls – 4 drives each and 5% of combined Playing handicap is deducted from your overall gross score.
Don’t forget winning a team event now means a loss of shot for all players and if there were a second place (20 and over players) they would lose 0.5 each. For 20 or more players, both first and second prizes will be awarded. (2/3 to first and 1/3 to second)
Friday 21st August 2026

Always check on the Dawn Patrol website for your accurate Dawn Patrol adjusted Playing handicap.
