How to Calculate a Net Countback

If two or more players are tied on their total nett score for the round, look at their cards and compare scores in the following sequential order until a winner is determined:

1. The Best Back Nine: Compare the total gross score for holes 10 to 18 and deduct half the handicap. The player with the lowest score wins.
2. The Best Last Six Holes: If still tied, compare the total gross score for holes 13 to 18 and deduct one-third of the handicap. The player with the lowest score wins.
3. The Best Last Three Holes: If still tied, compare the total gross score for holes 16 to 18 and deduct one-sixth of the handicap. The player with the lowest score wins.
4. The Best Final Hole: If still tied, compare the gross score on hole 18 and deduct one-ninth of the handicap. The player with the lowest score wins.

Note: In the rare event that players are still tied after checking hole 18, the countback typically moves to the front nine (holes 1 through 9) using the exact same countdown method (all 9 holes, last 6, last 3, then hole 9).
