Recording your Eclectic scores

When completing an Eclectic round, please follow these guidelines:

• Record gross scores only. Enter the gross score for each of the 18 holes.
• Pick up when you can no longer score Stableford points. You will usually play an individual Stableford competition alongside your Eclectic round. If you are out of Stableford points on a hole, pick up and enter “0” on both your Eclectic card and the web submission (see below).
• Background activity 1. To keep a relevant Gross score for the round, by entering a ‘0’ for a hole the system will automatically substitute the zero with the equivalent of a ‘nett double bogey’ for that hole, calculated according to your handicap and the Par of the hole.
• Background activity 2. The system will also automatically cap an entry to the equivalent of a ‘nett double bogey’ for that hole, calculated according to your handicap and the Par of the hole. Example: If you enter a 8 the system may replace it with a lower score.

Help Me Save My Sanity!

We have 37 players taking part in this year’s Winter Eclectic, with each player submitting six cards of 18 holes. That’s a rather frightening 3,996 individual scores for me to enter! 😱 Clearly, there has to be a better way and that’s where I need your help. The only practical way of keeping on top of the numbers is for each player to enter their own scores directly onto the Dawn Patrol website. Please don’t worry, it’s straightforward and should only take a few minutes. You must still submit your signed cards to me, as these will be used for checking and monitoring purposes.

To enter your scores, go to Main Menu > Eclectic on the Dawn Patrol website, or use the direct link via the button below. Select “Enter your Score Here” button. On the Form, select your name from the dropdown, enter which round (1–6) you are submitting, enter the date, and then enter your score for each of the 18 holes. For any hole that has not been completed (i.e. blank, NR or dash), please enter a zero “O”. The system will automatically substitute the zero with the equivalent of a ‘nett double bogey’ for that hole, calculated according to your handicap and the par of the hole.

And here’s another useful feature: you can help a fellow player who doesn’t have their phone with them. Once you have submitted your own scores, the Form gives you the option to Add another player. Select this option and simply repeat the process, choosing their name and entering their scores. So, if your playing partner has left their phone at home, you can save them from having to remember it all later and save me another 18 scores to enter!

Note: your entry will not automatically update the leaderboard as I still have check and then accept all the scores.
