Could you please be ready and on the tee box 10 minutes before your scheduled time.

Lunch (Lasagne) is planned for 1.30-1.45pm with the trophy presentation afterwards by Kathleen Cowie.

The format is Singles Stableford with 90% of Club Handicaps off the yellow tees. Max handicap will be 28.

See handicaps below which will be updated on Wednesday to allow Kevin to prepare the cards. Also see WHS Course and Playing Handicaps – a reminder (as of 1st April 2024) below on why it is NOT legitimate to take you Course Handicap off the board and take 90% to get your Playing Handicap.

WHS Course and Playing Handicaps – a reminder (as of 1st April 2024)

Course Handicap:

The Course Handicap calculation changed to include (Course Rating – Par) as part of the formula, which now reads:

Course Handicap = (Handicap Index x Slope Rating / 113) + (Course Rating – Par)

This means Course Handicap and Handicap Score Aggregate are now aligned, so the shots assigned as part of Course Handicap are in line with the shots assigned for Handicaps.

Therefore, if the par is lower than the Course Rating, you will receive additional shots on your Course Handicap and if the par is higher (as is Kingsdown), you will lose strokes.

Playing Handicap

The handicap allowance (90%, 95% etc) still exists ‘as is’ but the calculation underneath has changed, the rounding will now happen once and only once at the end of the calculation.

For Strokeplay, this means:
Whereas previously you rounded twice – for example, Course handicap 11.2 rounds to 11, 95% of 11 is 10.45 so rounds to 10.

In future, the rounding is done once at the end, so Course Handicap 11.2 carries forward, 95% of 11.2 is 10.64 which rounds to 11.

This is now more accurately calculated by the IG app and may differ slightly than if you try to calculate it manually. Therefore, for 95%, it is recommended that you take your Playing Handicap from the IG App. For the JC Trophy I will do the calculations.

Acceptable scores in General Play

This from Richard George. When declaring your intent to submit an acceptable score, you must return your scorecard, duly signed by the player and marker, after your round, otherwise you will incur a penalty score.

I have written to Richard asking that he accepts Acceptable Scores from Friday the 3rd May. Going forward we must comply with his requirements.

Hi, can we book a tee time and just play without entering the comp

    Thanks Shaun

    1. Rod Bird

I assume you are referring to Wednesday. Yes you can or roll up as normal, I am sure there will be some others not entering the 9 hole qualifier.

    Thanks Rod
