Slow Play – Change to Rules

Hi Guys

There have been several instances in the past month where people have been complaining of that old favourite subject, SLOW PLAY. More recently, a couple of Fourballs, playing in the Roll Up, ended up some 45+ minutes after the  group they were following finished. We are also aware that comments have been made specifically about the Dawn Patrol in this regard.

We have therefore taken the decision today to restrict all future Roll Ups to 3 balls maximum. As you know this is mandatory for all Club Competitions anyway.

So, in the event that the Roll Up ends up with 8 players left to tee off, it is proposed that the 2 ball goes next followed by 2 three balls. If the Roll Up ends up with 7 players, the 2 two balls go out separately followed by the 3 ball. In the event that any of the 2 balls catches the group in front, please let them through as it will speed up play.

For our Wednesday team games, the same rules will apply. Teams of two will play as a team and at the end be able to draw a blind card to augment their score. It means every team should keep all their scores.

Apologies if this appears heavy handed but this issue has been round a while now, and short of penalising those concerned we feel this is the best possible solution.

Thanks

Kevin, Martin and Alex
